Hope

You know, you see these bums, you know, blowin' up the campuses. Listen, the boys that are on the college campuses today are the luckiest people in the world, going to the greatest universities, and here they are, burnin' up the books, I mean, stormin' around about this issue, I mean, you name it - get rid of the war, there'll be another one.

-- Richard Nixon, New York Times, May 2, 1970

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.--- George Santayana

Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune--without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

Emily Dickinson

We have choices. I choose hope. For all our children.

A Reaffirmation of My American Beliefs

Biking is good for you.

Doughnuts are American as Apple Pie.

... and Beer is excellent food!

*Up Date--- per my good friend, Ms. Jood, I have searched for a photo of a body-painted Lance Armstrong....... Nope! But I did find a photo of a bicyclist who has excited America..........

* note: he has the proper eye and head protection. America needs all the protection it can get!

Dear America

Dear America
I know it has been a difficult time during the last eight years and it maybe a long time before it becomes better.

If today was not a crooked highway
If tonight was not a crooked trail
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time
Then lonesome would mean nothin' to me at all.
It will be better, of that I am sure, because even after I am gone I will have left my son to you and I have tried my best to teach him to have a good heart. He will help.
I can't see my reflection in the water
I can't speak the sounds that show no pain
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps
Or remember the sounds of my own name.
And if you need more help, America, call on my daughter. She is brave and strong and intelligent and guiding. When I am old and can no longer stand, call on her. She will help, too.

There's beauty in that silver singin' river
There's beauty in that rainbow in the sky
But none of these an' nothin' else can touch the beauty
That i remember in my true love's eyes.
I love you, America, and I give you my children.
Be good to them and bless them.
Get well soon.
